PLOUGH AT RATBY HOSTS END OF SEASON DO

Everyone’s dinner goes cold waiting for Rich and Helen

It was a decent turnout for the End of Season (2002-2003) Do.

Sarah Dent came up trumps with a secluded spot near the bar in the Ratby holstery.

The night was a warm one, supposedly giving Chair-again Andy Dent an excuse to get his Shorts on.  As he doesn’t really get a chance to do this in the Winter, that seemed fair enough.

Drinks and Dinner (the food element of which was held up by Richard Sharpe’s late entry from his cricket match – everyone hid their rucksacks) were followed by speeches by Denty, outgoing Captain Martin Leake (he’s very sociable) and as tradition seems to dictate, Jonah.

Jonah’s speech tripped through the normal array of stats, insults, sarcasm and references to the one occasion he missed Rachael from his ‘alphabetical’ review of all players.  (This seasons Nigel Rigby was the casualty of Jones’s clumsy speech writing technique).  The jokes were there but were not planned or scripted and so could not be repeated here.

Some of the stats provided will be found elsewhere in the website (LINK).  The main theme was that we had good matches, we were inconsistent and most of the time we enjoyed it.

Jonah (the Chairman unelect) was unavailable for comment as to the identity of the Players of the Season (Another Link).  It seems that a number of key votes are still awaited, so we must all wait to find out who wins until the start of the season.

Well done to Sarah (and Andy).  Ideas for next season’s do to Rich (What about having it at the Cricket Club?)
